Something New Entertainment Internship Program Finalist for 2 Awards

(Akron, OH.) – The Something New Entertainment team of Masters of Ceremonies, Disc Jockeys, Lighting Designers, and Event Professionals is proud to announce finalist status for two prestigious local awards. Something New Entertainment Creative Director and Talent Manager Anna-Jeannine “DJ AJ9” Herman has been selected as one of five of Northeast Ohio’s “Best Intern Mentor” finalists for the Northeast Ohio Council on Higher Education (NOCHE) and Cleveland Business Connects Magazine (CBC) Expy Awards.  .

“I am incredibly honored to have been chosen from among the nominees as a top five finalist,” said Herman.  “Creating a unique and exciting internship program to benefit both our team and our interns was important to me, and I’ve already enjoyed the reward of watching our interns grow through this challenge, immensely!”

The Something New Entertainment Internship Program is also in the running as a top five finalist for the Expy Award for “Coolest Internship.” The Expy Award celebrates excellence among hands-on learning opportunities in the Northeast Ohio region, including internships.  More than 200 nominations were received for Expy Awards, this year. .

“Internships are integral to Northeast Ohio’s talent development efforts, and we are excited to continue the tradition that we started in 2011 of recognizing excellence in experiential learning,” said NOCHE Executive Director Ann Womer Benjamin.  “The program celebrates student success and employer talent cultivation by highlighting some of the region’s best interns and internship programs.”

 . One of Something New Entertainment’s interns — Maire Reynolds of St. Bonaventure College — was the recipient of NOCHE’s “Intern of the Year” Award for the summer of 2012. Nominations were also accepted for Best Intern, Best New Internship, Best Large Company Internship, and Best College Advisor.
