On Saturday, December 15, 2012, DJ Justin had the honor of serving as the Master of Ceremonies for Aleah and Don’s breathtakingly beautiful “Winter Wonderland” wedding reception hosted at Avon Oaks Country Club. Just a little under a year, later, the couple is expecting a new arrival, soon! Happy anniversary, this weekend, Aleah and Don!
To kick of a very memorable evening, Justin helped Aleah and Don plan an epic, rock-inspired Grand Entrance for their bridal party, featuring personalized introductions for each bridal party member and some of their favorite music, including AC/DC, Guns N’ Roses, Limp Biskit, LMFAO, Disturbed, and more.
A very special thanks to the team from Jerry Clay Photography for allowing us to use some of their photos for this article!
In addition to MC and DJ services, the Something New Team also provided lightscaping and special effects for the event.
The lighting design included uplighting in “Cinderella Blue,” as well as pinspotting, dance floor lighting, and a custom lighted monogram including a beautiful Celtic Knot Snowflake design with wording from their stationery “‘Tis the Season for New Beginnings.”
Aleah and Don shared their first dance to Daughtry’s “Life After You” on a cloud, thanks to our romantic low-lying cloudfield effect which produces a thick, floor-hugging cloud without the use of foul-smelling “fog juice” — Carbon Dioxide and Water, only, just like a real cloud!
I (DJ AJ9) love this effect for a princess bride, because it reminds me of the famous scene at the end of Sleeping Beauty, where Princess Aurora (Sleeping Beauty) and Prince Phillip dance away into the clouds. Depending on the moment, hr dress is either pink or blue (because of her three bickering fairy godmothers)! Even though Aleah was most decisively a Cinderella Bride (as opposed to a Sleeping Beauty Bride) in fact, this scene concept was considered for inclusion in both Disney’s Snow White and the Seven Dwarves and Cinderella. It’s a the perfect touch to complete any princesses dream day.
Next, Aleah shared a special dance with her dad, Tad, to “It’s her Wedding Day” by Bruce Sudano, and Don shared a pair of special dances with his mother to Leeann Womack’s “I Hope You Dance” and “You are My Sunshine” by Lorena Gusman.
After the formal dances, we all cut loose! We kicked off the fun with Aleah’s bouquet toss to Salt-n-Pepa’s “I Got a Man” and the garter removal (“Mission Impossible Theme”) before launching into Don and Aleah’s lively request list — including a wide variety of modern alternative rock, pop, classic rock, and — of course — “Ah! Leah” by Donnie Iris. Check out a few guest photos from the dance floor:
It was an amazing night with a lot of joyful celebration and happy tears. This was a great group to work with!
