On Friday, June 1, 2012, DJ AJ9 had the great pleasure to serve as the Master of Ceremonies for Cassie and Hadley’s fairytale wedding reception at Occasions Party Centre in Clinton, Ohio. Along with DJ Heather and DJ Justin, Something New Entertainment also provided sound for their beautiful ceremony at Occasion’s outdoor gazebo, disc jockey services, and full room uplighting in golden amber-orange.
Take a moment to look over some of these beautiful photos of their wedding reception taken by Ken Love Photography. Special thanks to Ken and Julia Love for all their hard work on this event! You can also check out photos of their wedding ceremony in our article from last week! All of the photos in both of these articles are by Ken Love Photography.
Cassie and Hadley chose Bruno Mars’ “Marry You” for their Grand Entrance which included their bridal party and parents, as well.
Next: Best Man Dan’s toast, which — by the way — began “A wise man once said: ‘If you’re having girl problems, I feel bad for you, son. I’ve got 99 problems, but…'”
(Here’s a nice shot of the groom’s face, below, as he undoubtedly wondered “Wait — what? Where is this toast going? Am I about to get in trouble?”)
“…a beautiful, smart, funny woman is definitely not one of them,” he concluded. Ten points for humor and good use of a pop culture reference, Dan; nicely done, sir!
Next, Cassie’s sister and Maid of Honor Kayla gave a toast. Side note: you may recognize Kayla as part of the Something New Entertainment team. We loved her personality so much that — after Cassie’s wedding — Kayla became part of the Summer 2012 Something New Entertainment office and event staff.
Kayla’s toast employed the properties assistance from several of the other bridesmaids and included some EXCELLENT tips for great-toast-giving. Get your pencils ready to take notes from Kayla’s list of four must-have toast topics:
- Compliment the Bride
- “Compliment” the Groom
- Love at First Sight Story
- Heartfelt Advice
That’s a darn good list!
Afterwards, the Father of the Bride, Craig, shared a short reflection on his daughter’s courtship with her new husband — including his remembrances of bonding with Hadley over their mutual fascination with physics, freezing pure water, and cavitation points.
For the five of you reading this that followed all of that — know that the staff at SNE (including sister-of-the-bride, Kayla) spent the summer repeatedly freezing bottles of water and being fascinated.
After dinner, Cassie and Hadley cut their cake to classic rock favorite “You’re My Best Friend” by Queen. Their beautiful cake by Reeves Bakery was personalized with a porcelain Sleeping Beauty and Prince Phillip figurine.
After dinner, Hadley and Cassie took a moment to toast their guests and to offer them a heartfelt thanks them for coming to share the day with them.
Then Cassie and Hadley shared their very first dance as a newly-married couple to Michael Buble’s “Everything.”
Fun fact: DJ AJ9 and DJ Justin also chose this same song for their own first dance! This is a beautiful melody with lyrics perfect for a first dance!
And I can’t believe, that I’m your man,
And I get to kiss you baby just because I can.
Whatever comes our way, ah we’ll see it through,
And you know that’s what our love can do.
And in this crazy life, and through these crazy times
It’s you, it’s you, you make me sing.
You’re every line, you’re every word, you’re everything.
You’re every song, and I sing along.
‘Cause you’re my everything.
In keeping with the fairytale theme of the evening, Cassie shared a princess-inspired waltz with her father, Craig, to “Once Upon A Dream” from Sleeping Beauty.
Hadley chose “House at Pooh Corner” by Kenny Loggins for his special dance with him Mom, Laurie. This song is a lovely, sentimental choice echoing images of childhood.
So, help me if you can I’ve got to get
Back to the house at Pooh corner by one
You’d be surprised there’s so much to be done,
Count all the bees in the hive,
Chase all the clouds from the sky
Back to the days of Christopher Robin and Pooh.
After dinner and the special dances, it was time to bring out the P-A-R-T-Y!
Cassie was a big fan of some of the more colorful photobooth props, especially, and the whole gang had a great time between dance sets getting dressed up in feather boas, fluorescent mohawk wigs, faux moustaches, fun hats, pirate gear, a headdress fit for a pharaoh, glasses, an astronaut helmet, and MORE to have their pictures made in the photo booth with friends.
DJ AJ9 even managed to sneak away for a special session with the bride. Check out these rare photobooth strip images capturing Pirate AJ9 in her natural habitat (right).
What a great souvenir party favor for all!
