This article is LONG overdue, but… the timing is also a little bit significant, too.
Two years ago, today, on Saturday, April 27, 2015, we (MC Justin and Anna-Jeannine “DJ AJ9” Herman, Wedding Entertainment Director®) had the pleasure of providing wedding entertainment and lighting design for Dan and Erin’s modern wedding celebration at 78th Street Studios, an art gallery “white space” on Cleveland’s West Side.
Happy 2nd Anniversary, Dan and Erin!!!
We first met dan and Erin through the magic of the internet. They were planning their Cleveland wedding from out-of-town just a bit South in Columbus, Ohio.
Like them, their wedding day was light on tradition simply for tradition’s sake, but rich meaningful moments and a whole lot of style! Here’s a brief review of their wedding day style and some of the planning and soundtrack that made their special day so perfectly-tailored for them:
Dan and Erin began the day with a stunning First Look downstairs from their rooms at the Ritz-Carlton Hotel at Tower City, photographed by one of Cleveland’s very finest film photographers (and all-around awesome people), Mr. Hunter Harrison of Hunter Photographic.
Next, they headed to the HEDGE gallery, upstairs at 78th Street Studios, for a brief but touching ceremony by Pastor John Lentz, Jr. of Forest Hill Presbyterian Church in Cleveland Heights, Ohio.
After the Wedding Ceremony, guests gathered downstairs for a cocktail hour in 78th Street Studios’ SmARTSpace.
Before too long, it was time for the Grand Entrance! Dan and Erin included their parents, who entered to “Everlasting Love” by Robert Knight.
They were followed by Dan’s groomsmen (Andy, Austin, and Greg) to “Young, Wild & Free” by Wiz Kalifa (ft. Snoop Dogg and Bruno Mars).
Then, Erin’s bridesmaids (Caitlin, Brittany, and Abbie) entered to “I Gotta Feelin'” by the Black Eyed Peas.
… and finally… entering to “Marry You” by Bruno Mars….
The New Mr. & Mrs.: Dan and Erin!!!
Before dinner — a stationed affair with cuisine from around the world by Chef Ruth Kostadinov of Gatherings Kitchen and Kitchen Basics — Dan and Erin were honored by several toasts and speeches, including from Erin’s Dad, Gary.
Erin’s sisters (Caitlin and Brittany) and Dan’s brother (Andy) also made toasts.
Some of their dinner selections included:
“Come Away with Me” by Norah Jones
“Your Body Is A Wonderland” by John Mayer
“Fast Car” by Tracy Chapman
After dinner, the couple cut the cake to the ever-popular “How Sweet It Is (to be Loved by You)” by James Taylor.
Then, Dan and Erin opened the dance floor with a special song just for the two of them — “You Are the Best Thing” by Ray LaMontagne — before sharing a dance with their parents — “In My Life” by the Beatles.
