Event Review: Ellen and Jason’s Classic Amber Wedding Shindig at Rosemont Country Club

On Saturday, June 15, 2013, DJ Heather G. had the pleasure of serving as Master of Ceremonies, providing sound design, and designing lighting for Ellen and Jason’s wedding reception at Fairlawn’s own Rosemont Country Club.  The ceremony took place at Sts. Peter and Paul Church in Doylestown, Ohio (pictured, above), and was captured by Vendor We Adore, David Corey.

We first met Ellen online, and later that same week, she can in to the office along with her (beautiful) mom to meet with me (Anna-Jeannine), in person.  Suffice it to say — we hit it off right away.  As you can see from the wonderful photos throughout this article by David Corey Photography, like me, Ellen is a natural redhead, but what you can’t see in the photos is what a great sense of humor she has and how — just — driven she is.  She has an effervescent energy about her, and we were delighted to be retained for this very special day!

Ellen and Jason chose a color scheme using shades of ivory and gold along with a muted purple and accents of peach and light pink driven by a sort of English Garden sort of aesthetic.  Something New Entertainment provided full-room lighting design for the dining area including amber uplighting.

We also worked with Ellen and Jason’s stationery designer to create a lighted monogram design for later in the evening.  This one coordinated with their invitations, menus, place cards, etc., using the same fonts and similar colors.

LINEBREAK

Ellen and Jason hired a live pianist to play during cocktail hour in the outer room before the main hall was opened for dinner.  This is a great option for couples who have access to a piano or space for one to be brought in (and tuned)!

For the Bridal Party Entrance and the Couple’s Traditional Grand Entrance, Ellen and Jason chose “Ho Hey” by the Lumineers.  It was a nice choice for them, because it’s an upbeat tune infused with positivity that sort of builds in intensity and excitement throughout the song.

Several of Ellen and Jason’s honored guests offered toasts to the couple, including Ellen’s Sister and Maid of Honor, Molly, Jason’s Best Man, Joshua, and Ellen’s Father, John.

The soundtrack for dinner included a variety of vocal jazz and big band artists to create a swanky, elegant atmosphere that complimented the venue’s decor.

For their Cake Cutting, the couple chose a current popular pick: “Lucky” by Jason Mraz & Colbie Caillat.  We love this for the cake cutting sound track, because it’s so sweet!  A sweet message for a sweet event as the couple shares their first taste of the sweetness of wedded bliss together?  CUTE!

“Lucky I’m in love with my best friend. Lucky to have been where I have been. Lucky to be coming home again. Lucky we’re in love in every way. Lucky to have stayed where we have stayed. Lucky to be coming home someday.”

For their Traditional First Dance as a married couple, Ellen and Jason chose a classic: “L-O-V-E” by Nat King Cole.

“Love is all that I can give to you.  Love is more than just a game for two. Two in love can make it.  Take my heart and please don’t break it.  Love was made for me and you.”

For their traditional dances with their parents, Ellen and Jason chose two longtime favorites for this special event: “The Way You Look Tonight” by Frank Sinatra for the Father-Daughter Dance and “I Hope You Dance” by Lee Ann Womack for the Mother-Son Dance.

Ellen and Jason chose a variety of musical genres for their event  — party favorites, Top 40, and even a couple of polkas for dancing!  Here’s a taste of some of the other great music at this event:

It’s always rewarding to work with a great couple on a special day, but Ellen and Jason were kind enough to think of us, after their big day!  Several weeks later, we received a super-sweet letter from the bride, herself, along with a few photos.  Here’s what she had to say:

Anna and SNE:

I can’t believe I’ve been a newlywed for almost 4 months!   We’re back from our honeymoon, settled into everyday life now and are lucky to be able to say we had a *perfect wedding.*  In our minds, every part of the day was everything we hoped it would be – and we have you and SNE to thank for making us so happy.

Heather and her partner were spectacular – they kept the reception lively and fun while making sure touching moments were created throughout the evening.  I couldn’t have asked for a better MC.  And the lighting design made the room look spectacular.  It was those special little touches…like creating the monogram for our dance floor, helping us to figure out what color uplights would be best…Heather even stopped by to ask if we needed a drink at the head table…that made us feel so special.

I just want to make sure you know how thankful Jason and I are to you for taking the time to make our wedding such a wonderful experience.

Ellen
