The Lighting Design:
The ballrooms at the Lodge at Geneva on the Lake are beautiful rooms — tastefully decorated in a neutral palette with clean lines — but it isn’t often that I (DJ AJ9) encounter a room that couldn’t benefit from the extra added oomph! of a little lighting! I’m a known (and self-admitted) sucker for the lights, but with this family’s artistic roots, I was especially excited about the project — in addition to Sarah’s mother being an art teacher, Sarah’s father is a graphic artist, himself, and you’ll actually get to see some of Mike’s mother’s work a little later in this pictorial!
Sarah and Michael’s colors were a very classic black and white/ivory with accents of a bright sort of grassy apple green, so we chose a warm yellow amber color for the room’s lighting design to compliment the black and white and to punch up the greens and bringing out the warm tones in the room’s existing decor. The effect was absolutely stunning! Here’s a little before-and-after action (above and below). I love the way the uplighting makes the glassware glow a little bit and makes the silverware seem more golden, as well as the way it makes the cake POP off the similarly-colored wall.
