Hi! I’m Justin!
Here’s my card and a little bit about me:
I have more than 15 years of professional experience in the theatre, technology, and entertainment industries, both on- and off-stage, as an actor, singer, dancer, lighting designer, sound designer, information technology expert, and educational speaker. I’m originally from Kent, Ohio, and I’m passionate about encouraging the growth and revitalization of the Northeast Ohio Region. After studies in Computer Engineering at Akron University, I worked through the International Alliance of Theatrical Stage Employees (IATSE) Local 27 and 48 and in management for Vincent Lighting Systems, a major lighting and sound rental house for theatre, live sound, and special events.
I have served both local and touring shows as a lighting and sound designer and technician in every major house in the Northeast Ohio region (and beyond) including Tower City Amphitheater, Blossom Music Center, Porthouse Theatre, the Carousel Dinner Theatre, Playhouse Square, the House of Blues, Severance Hall, Cleveland Public Hall, the Akron Civic Theatre, the Canton Players Guild, the University of Akron’s E.J. Thomas Hall and Paul A. Daum Theatre, the Crawford Auto Museum, and Cleveland’s largest excursion ship, the Goodtime III.
I’ve has served hundreds of local artists and ensembles in my career as well as dozens of major recording artists and other headliners such as Dave Matthew’s Band, Christina Aguilera, Brooks & Dunn, Les Miserables, the WARP Tour, and even Cirque du Soleil, just to name a few. As a professional wedding entertainer, I’ve had the privilege to study with some of the biggest names in wedding entertainment in the country and internationally. I have completed both the “Make it Grand” (twice) two day intensive Grand Entrance Workshop and the two day intensive seminar the “Professional Process” with world-renowned author and wedding expert Peter Merry (Wedding Entertainment Director®, WED Guild® Founder, and Author of “The Best Wedding Reception…EVER!”) and Elisabeth “Liz” Daley (Wedding Entertainment Director® and President of the WED Guild®). Additionally, I’ve also completed training with Mark and Rebecca Ferrel’s Marbecca Master of Ceremonies program. I am a graduate of the American DJ Academy.
I’m a technology enthusiast, and I also hold several information technology credentials, including COMPTIA’s A+, COMPTIA’s Security +, and COMPTIA’s Network+; Microsoft’s MCP and Microsoft’s MCSA; and Cisco’s CCENT and Cisco’s CCSA. I am licensed to broadcast by the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) as a General Class Amateur Radio Operator (HAM).
I am passionate about community service to better our region. I am active in volunteer efforts for a number of causes close to my heart, including AIDS and Breast Cancer awareness and research, the arts, and the fair and equitable treatment of all people through including organizations such as the Northern Ohio Breast Cancer Coalition Fund (NOBCCF); the Humility of Mary Life Opportunity Services (H.M. Life); the Community AIDS Network and Akron Pride Initiative (CANAPI); the Akron-Canton Regional Foodbank; Big Brothers Big Sisters of Summit, Medina, and Stark Counties; the Children’s Concert Society, Young Audiences of Northeast Ohio; and Torchbearers Akron. I like to share my knowledge with my peers through networking and through educational speaking engagements. I am a member of several professional organizations, including the Northeast Ohio DJ Association (founding member), the Northeast Ohio Information Security Forum (NEOISF), and Torchbearers. I’ve served as an educational speaker for the Mobile Beat Disc Jockey Conference’s Disc Jockey Event Planner Intensive, NEOISF, and SYN/HAK. I’m known for my technological prowess, cleverness, and undeniable popularity among grandmothers. In my free time, I enjoy cooking, studying and setting technology trends, watching films, fine dining, running, and building things. Want to learn more about booking me for your wedding?
