A Great Big

Something New Entertainment

Thank You

to those of you who braved the cold to visit on the 10th Floor of the Historic Higbee Department Store Building in the Silver Grille for the 4th Annual Boutique Bridal Bazaar, produced by Something White, A Bridal Boutique this past Sunday, January 11, 2015, between noon and 4:00 PM.

.

.

For those of you who’ve been following our design progress, here’s our finished booth design, complete with uplighting, globe lighting, theatrical front lighting, and a lighted monogram!

.

.

You can see more about our design process and construction of the Something New Entertainment logo sign in our “getting crafty” article.

.

.

This is our 4th year participating in this event, billed by the Cleveland Plain Dealer as “A bazaar for the ‘anti-bridal-show’ bride, and we must confess that we look forward to it, each and every year, for a variety of reasons!

.

Not only do we get to see and schmooze with a ton of the folks featured on our elite list of Vendors We Adore (this year’s presenter list boasted several, including Baci DesignerBorrow Vintage + Eclectic RentalsBrightside Photography,  Hummingbird Bake ShopMain Street CupcakesMolly Taylor DesignsSomething White Bridal Boutique, and Sow Food, just to name a few of the wonderful vendors represented), but we also get to meet with like-minded, stylish Brides, Grooms, Moms, and Dads, and Friends in a relaxing, luxurious, sensory, and just plain enjoyable setting (more about that, below).

.

It’s a curated show, which means that not all applicants who apply to exhibit are accepted.  You can read more about the screening process in our article about last year’s show, but the bottom line is that founders Rebecca Somnitz and Karin Kurtz VanCure of Something White Bridal Boutique are looking for wedding professionlas whose work they know personally or by reputation to be of excellent quality and who align with their aesthetic guidelines.  Simply put: they’re looking for experts who they can feel comfortable about personally recommending to their own clients.  We’re very proud to have “made the cut” four years running and to have had the opportunity to assist with fashion show production and to serve in a Master of Ceremonies role.

.

For those of you who missed it… here’s what you missed: a gorgeous fashion show, fabulous food, lots of pretties, and fun all around!  But — don’t worry — you can relive some of our highlights through the photos, below:

First, Baci Designer.  Amanda, Brigit, and Caitlin from Baci Designer were all available on site to speak with clients, enshrined in a gold-gilded booth that oozed warm, cozy light and lots of glamour!  Their booth featured a custom black-backed marquee wall that has SO MANY possibilities, plus a vintage bar cart, and a whole lot of sparkle.

Borrow Vintage + Eclectic Rentals had pieces scattered throughout the event, as many vendors had — ahem — BORROWed their wares to furnish booths!  Here’s a seak peek of their tablescape, though — lovely, as always.

Brightside Photography‘s awesome backdrop was made entirely out of cut, corrugated cardboard for a stunning effect.  Like Lisa Austin’s photographic style, it was fresh, modern, and intimate.

I swear, Kim Coryea from Hummingbird Bake Shop brings out this gorgeous turquoise dresser for the sole purpose of delighting me, personally.  Its shabby chic style and bright color is the perfect offset for her creative (and delicious) cake designs.

Another of our favorite almost-neighbors was Main Street Cupcakes, just two booths down.  Sarah Forrer’s booth featured a sampling of Marble Cupcakes (with a swirl of Madagasgar Vanilla and MSC’s Signature Chocolate), as well as Lemon Drop, and (MY FAVORITE) Champagne with Strawberries.  YUM!

Molly Taylor Designs‘ Molly Taylor and Bailey Wilson grew a sweet, whimsical little foresty backdrop of woven leaves and branches, typical of their lush, romantic style.

Many of the florals were in hues to match the their live styled shoot, held at the show.  Like all Molly Taylor Designs, it smelled positively fantastic!!!

The ladies from Something White (a Bridal Boutique), including Rebecca Somnitz and (Something New Bride) Karin Kurtz VanCure were the epicenter of this event’s production team, and — appropriately — their booth is the heart of the showroom floor.  Later in the day, their gowns were featured in a lovely parlor-style fashion show.

If you look closely, you can see an very excited Anna-Jeanning schmoozing with Sometrhig New Bride and Groom Melissa and Matt!!!  😉

SŌW Food‘s own Chef Brian Doyle and Dough Girl Maggie Downey were both onsite to answer questions and help guests enjoy samples of their wonderful food — available for a variety of different dietary restrictions.  Their simple and elegant booth design kept their focus on their stunning food, including samplings of a variety of goodies to share — from a rich, spiced squash-carrot soup to gluten-free Russian raspberry tea biscuits, all with their gourmet flair and signature presentation style.  You may remember them from Amber and Jon’s wedding.

A Charming Fete‘s booth featured layers of sumputously gilded textures, offset by geometric tableware and lush florals in the luxe style for which we have come to know them!  A photograph of the Cleveland skyline crowned this elegant design.

Fear’s Confections, our neighbors!  Cassandra Fear knows her chocolate!  (And… after spending the day sneaking treats, so does Anna-Jeannine!)  It’s not *just* the deliciousness, but also the fandoms!  Cassandra knows geek-chic and chic-chic, alike.  But it’s not just your local Wedding Entertainment Director® endorsing her — it’s celebrity chef Alton Brown.  He listed her shop as one of the top shops he visited on his ‪#‎ABRoadEats2014 tour.  Pretty cool, right?

This year’s fashion show featured live music from the talented string voices of Forest City Chambers, who entertained guests in the hallway fpr most of the day before moving into the main ballroom for a final sound check with us before the show.  They played a variety of classic processionals, recessionals, and preludes, as well as several modern selections, and they were great to work with.

Kirkbrides is responsible for some of the area’s most stylish (and smoothly-flowing) weddings.  Founder Valerie Kirkbride’s booth featured a voting station to choose the “best” of five featured wedding decor styles: Classic Elegance, Bohemian Chic, Glitz & Glam, Rustic Vintage, and Modern.  Rustic Vintage was the winner!

MKleinman Artistry‘s own Maggie Kleinman, Makeup Artist, was on site to talk with guests about wedding day beauty beneath this cute LOVE marquee.  You might remember Maggie from the Handpicked events.

We had a great view of Rose Gold Studio‘s booth, situated right across the way from us.  Its whimsical design kept the focus on Deanna Sukalac’s high quality stationery design and other decor products — invitations, save-the-dates to escort cards, table numbers, directional signage, calligraphy, and much more.

Totally Cooked Catering‘s team was in full force, serving up delicious, savory treats that really made us realize it’s a wonderful life, even on such a cold day.  Warming up is easy with bacon-wrapped, almond-stuffed dates and artichoke parmesan crostini.  Totally Cooked is another Handpicked colleague.

.

Urban Orchid‘s Brandon Sitler’s display put the focus on his beautiful, modern, whimsical work in materials familiar and novel — lush blooms, succulents, and — of COURSE — orchids.  Not just ANY orchids, though; these are my favorite!  You might recognize his work from Amber and Jon’s wedding, too!

Overall — it was just a great event.  If you missed it, this year, and you’re still planning, definitely use some of our helpful links and names, above, to get in touch with some of these great wedding pros.

XO
